Construction on highly anticipated Miami Beach pedestrian bridge set to begin

Construction has officially begun on an exciting new pedestrian bridge at the entrance to South Beach, bringing vibrant color and artistic flair to the area. According to Local10, the developer initiated mobilization efforts yesterday to set the stage for this significant project.

Renowned French artist Daniel Buren is the visionary behind the bridge's design, which carries the evocative title, "Walking In, Along and Under the Colors." The bridge promises to be not just a functional structure but a striking visual experience for pedestrians.

Once completed, the bridge will connect the South of Fifth baywalk to a recently finished park, offering seamless access and enhancing the area's appeal. Both the park and the bridge are integral components of the development plan tied to the adjacent Five Park tower, which debuted in November as South Beach's tallest building.

The first phase of construction includes the installation of temporary fencing, followed by the relocation of underground utilities along Fifth Street. Excavation work to create the foundations for the bridge's pedestals on both the north and south sides of the causeway is set to commence in the coming months.

The anticipated completion date for this vibrant addition to South Beach's landscape is set for the summer or fall of 2026, promising a dynamic and colorful transformation for the community.
